Jafar Faramarzi said on Saturday that more than 90,000 vehicle movements were recorded at the county’s entrances during the four-day period that started on August 11, highlighting Meshginshahr’s popularity as a tourist destination.

He added that tourism facilities and accommodation centers across the county were fully prepared to serve visitors. Official statistics and field estimates showed that 15,000 and 20,000 overnight stays were recorded at official accommodation facilities, government guesthouses and schools on Wednesday and Thursday respectively, he said.

Located on the slopes of Mount Sabalan, Meshginshahr is known for its natural landscapes and diverse tourist attractions, including mineral hot springs, historical sites and monuments, and a suspension bridge.

Faramarzi said tourism infrastructure in the county has expanded in recent years, helping improve services for visitors.

Among Meshginshahr’s notable attractions are Qahqaheh Castle, Qanli Bulagh Caravanserai, Kohneh Qaleh (old castle), the suspension bridge and the Shabil and Qinarcheh hot springs.

The Shahr Yeri archaeological site, featuring dozens of stone sculptures believed to date back around 8,000 years, is also located in the county.

With a population of about 155,000, Meshgin Shahr is a popular tourist destination, particularly during the warmer months.
