Third leg of Commonwealth Sailing Cup 2026 kicks off in Belarus

On 3-9 September the Zaslavl water reservoir will host the third leg of the Open Commonwealth Sailing Cup 2026 featuring top sailors from Belarus and Russia, BelTA has learned.



Alongside the Commonwealth Cup, the Zaslavl water reservoir will also host the Belarusian Sailing Championship and open autumn competitions for juniors. Participants include members of the national and junior teams of Belarus and Russia, and also students from sports institutions in Minsk, Grodno, and Gomel.

Men and women will compete in four classes: 470, IQFoil, Laser, and Laser Radial, while boys and girls — in the 420, Laser 4.7, Cadet, and Optimist classes. The opening parade took place on 2 September, with the races scheduled to run from 3 to 9 September.

At the first Commonwealth Cup in April in Sochi, Belarusian sailors claimed four medals (1 gold, 1 silver, 2 bronze). At the second leg in May in Minsk, Team Belarus’ haul included six (2 gold, 2 silver, 2 bronze). Victories in the 2026 season were secured by Belarusian Tatyana Drozdovskaya (Laser Radial) and Ivan Chichin (IQFoil), while podium finishes were earned by Yana Obukhova, Savely Morozov and Darya Levko, Ekaterina Guseva, Nikita Martonchik, and Maksim Dyagel.
