«The school may seem small, but it has its own history. The first mention of the school dates back to 1909. Of course, it was not in this building back then,» Igor Sergeyenko told the media.
He noted: «There are few educational institutions in the country whose history spans such events as the October Revolution, the Civil War, Polish, Nazi occupation, the post-war reconstruction of the country and the sovereign development of Belarus in the 2000s. According to historical records, more than 2,200 students graduated from the school in the 80 post-war years alone.»
According to him, the school was shaped by people who took part in the Great Patriotic War, and the teachers who worked here are still known and remembered. A new teaching team has been formed, carefully preserving the school’s traditions.
The school is small today, with 80 students. However, it is located in a promising town with development potential. Ahead of the new academic year, the school grounds were significantly improved and the facade was renovated thanks to efforts by the District Executive Committee and Oblast Executive Committee, and clean-up efforts.
He expressed his gratitude to the management of Beltelecom for laying a fiber-optic communications line at the company’s own expense. This has made it possible to provide faster internet, create a local network and connect the school to the public security system. This opens up new opportunities.
Igor Sergeyenko noted, this and other rural schools can gain access to modern knowledge and innovations on an equal footing with urban schools. An individual approach, with five to ten students per class, also makes it possible to provide more in-depth instruction and help students master the knowledge provided by teachers. The school has a teaching staff of 30, which is quite a large team for a school of this size.
Germanovichi Secondary School is one of the country’s oldest educational institutions. The first mention of it in the press dates back to 21 May 1909. It is known for its traditions of civic and patriotic education. The school provides a local history museum, which has featured an exhibition dedicated to the 1406th Anti-aircraft Artillery Regiment since 1987. The regiment took part in the liberation of the village of Germanovichi from Nazi occupiers.
During his working trip Igor Sergeyenko attended a meeting of the Sharkovshchina District Executive Committee in the agro-town of Germanovichi. The agenda focused on the work of the Germanovichi Rural Executive Committee to address issues related to the well-being of the local population. He also met with local residents.
