In August 2026, household saving activity remained high. Ruble time deposits held by individuals reached Br18.9 billion as of 1 September, up Br564.1 million, or 3.1%, in August. In January-August of 2026, these deposits increased by Br3.8 billion, or 25%, compared with an increase of Br2.5 billion, or 23.5%, year-on-year period.
Ruble time deposits accounted for 72.9% of all time deposits held by individuals as of 1 September 2026, up from 64% in 2025.
«An increased tendency to save in the national currency contributes to the ongoing process of reducing the level of dollarization of the economy. In August 2026, the share of the ruble component in broad money increased to 68.4%, up from 63% in 2025. The structure of the money supply is improving amid faster growth in average ruble money supply compared with average broad money. The year-on-year growth in these indicators was 31% and 20.6%, respectively,» the National Bank said.
The average amount of ruble time deposits over a 12-month period increased by 31.1% (compared with 30.6% in 2025), while deposits held by individuals grew by 40.9% (compared with 38.3% in 2025).
