Of course, I lean toward the view that microchipping is necessary, but my position is that we should not let things get to the point where a pet needs to be found. If we take on a pet, we must be responsible for it — an animal should not end up anywhere without its owner. For example, unsupervised roaming. It is dangerous primarily for the pet’s health, because where there are many strays, there are many viral infections. A pet can be hit by a car, and there are other dangers. So yes, microchipping is good, but it’s a preventive measure — just in case. I microchipped my cat at 15 years old, just in case,» she said.
The private mobile veterinary clinic primarily conducts preventive check-ups. According to the founder, the idea came from personal experience caring for a 16-year-old cat. «As an owner, I didn’t know how to properly care for an elderly pet. Thanks to meeting qualified veterinarians, I realized that animal health requires a comprehensive approach. Often we only go to the vet when symptoms appear, for example, watery eyes, and only treat that symptom. I realized that the health of cats and dogs is similar to that of humans: all organs are interconnected, and to treat one symptom, the condition of the whole body must be considered. So I learned to care for my cat so that her life would be not only long but also of good quality — without pain and suffering that a pet cannot express. That is how the idea of a mobile clinic was born — a place where you can quickly and stress-free run diagnostics and get a complete picture of your pet’s health in one place,» Alena Usova said.
She emphasized that this is not just a business. «When I started as an entrepreneur, I thought I was creating a business that I needed, and my cat needed. Now it has become a part of my life. Even on weekends, I check social media, see animals’ health problems, and feel the need to do something. Although it is important for me that the project generates profit, because burnout is a serious issue when you give 100% without return. So now we are working on making it a business as well,» the founder said.
According to her, young people are showing truly responsible pet ownership. «Many young people under 25 come to us — they make up a large percentage of our clients. The new generation, in my opinion, is more responsible when getting a pet and does not just care about appearance and breed. Many come to us with pets adopted from shelters or found on the street,» Alena Usova said.
Speaking about the older generation, she also noted positive trends. «Such owners say that they used to treat their pets more casually, but now there are posters in the city about responsible animal care, and the importance of vaccination and check-ups is being promoted. And they are starting to treat animals differently,» the expert added.
The mobile clinic currently has 67 animal records — about 50 owners have already sought veterinary care for their pets. For five months, the mobile clinic has been making house calls. A full examination takes about an hour and a half, with results delivered the next day, and online consultations are also available.
