Belarusian MAZ, Algerian companies expand industrial cooperation

The Belarusian automobile manufacturer MAZ and Algerian companies are expanding industrial cooperation. The matter was discussed during talks between Director General of MAZ, the managing company of the BelavtoMAZ holding company Valery Ivankovich and representatives of Algerian companies, the MAZ press service told BelTA.



Valery Ivankovich is currently visiting Algeria as part of a Belarusian business delegation. The parties discussed opportunities for joint cooperation, focusing on the supply of MAZ cargo and passenger vehicles.

The Algerian side expressed interest in a detailed study of the product range to identify the most promising vehicle segment and to further explore options for establishing local assembly operations.

Earlier, the MAZ director general met with Algeria’s Minister of Foreign Trade and Export Promotion Kamel Rezig and Minister of Industry Farid Kourtel. The parties noted their interest in establishing the Belarus-Algeria Business Council as soon as possible to speed up engagement and communication. They also expressed intent to implement agreements on meeting the Algerian market’s demand for passenger transport as part of a fleet renewal program. In addition, the parties discussed the progress in obtaining a preliminary permit to set up a local assembly plant, which is a key element for further cooperation.
