29.07.2026 | 11:36
The future of sport lies in the balance between tradition and innovation, Belarusian Sports Minister Sergei Kovalchuk said at the ministerial session of the Phygital Sports Summit in Astana, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Sports Ministry.

«The sports world is on the threshold of a new era. The development of digital technologies is inevitably changing the traditional formats of competition, and the phygital movement is becoming one of the most striking examples of how modernity brings together physical activity and the digital environment. The annual Games of the Future confirm that this format generates great international interest and is becoming a new platform for sports interaction and technological innovation. I am confident that the future of sport lies in a sensible balance between innovation and tradition. It is this approach that will allow us to preserve sports core mission, which is to raise a healthy, strong, and active generation,» said Sergei Kovalchuk.

The event took place on the eve of the opening ceremony of the Games of the Future, which will run in Astana through 9 August. The multisport forum has brought together over 800 participants from dozens of countries, who will compete for the top spot in eight disciplines. Belarusian athletes will be represented in three events.
