Belarus’ deputy foreign minister meets with UN Geneva director-general

Belarus’ Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Igor Sekreta held a meeting with Director-General of the United Nations Office at Geneva Tatiana Valovaya on 24 February, BelTA has learned from the Permanent Mission of Belarus to the UN Office and other international organizations in Geneva.



During the conversation, the deputy minister stressed the importance of the Geneva platform as one of the key international negotiation and expert centers.

Igor Sekreta thanked Tatiana Valovaya for her enthusiastic support in organizing the EAEU Days in Geneva in 2025 during Belarus’ chairmanship of the Eurasian Economic Union.

In turn, the director-general emphasized the significance of this event for strengthening the international image of the EAEU. She also positively responded to the information about the Belarusian head of state’s decision to declare 2026 the Year of the Belarusian Woman and Belarus’ plans to participate in a photo exhibition at the UN Office dedicated to the role of women in the life of the state and society.

The parties also discussed international security. They agreed on the importance of resuming full-fledged negotiation processes within international forums on disarmament and arms control.

The parties exchanged views on the prospects for advancing Belarusian initiatives to strengthen multilateralism and security in Eurasia, including the development of the Eurasian Charter of Diversity and Multipolarity.

Igor Sekreta announced that another high-level conference on Eurasian security will be held in Minsk in autumn 2026 and invited Tatiana Valovaya to take part.
