28.01.2026 | 16:21

Belarusian Prime Minister Aleksandr Turchin and State Secretary of the Union State of Belarus and Russia Sergey Glazyev held a meeting to discuss the agenda for the upcoming Union State Council of Ministers meeting in Moscow, BelTA has learned.

«The Union State Council of Ministers meeting will take place soon, followed by the Supreme State Council meeting at the end of February. Therefore, we are taking stock of 2025 and outlining plans for the future,» Aleksandr Turchin noted.

The agenda of the Union State Council of Ministers is quite extensive: it will include 14 items. «That is why during our meeting today I wanted to exchange views with you on preparations for the sessions of the Union State’s highest governing bodies. I also wanted to focus more specifically on certain issues,» the prime minister said addressing the state secretary.

  • Traditionally, the Supreme State Council of the Union State approves the main directions to implement the provisions of the Treaty on the Creation of the Union State for three years. «This is our roadmap for the medium term. At the Council of Ministers meeting in Moscow on 2 February [2026], we will discuss two key documents: the progress of implementing the main directions for 2024-2026 and the draft structure of a similar document for 2027-2029,» Aleksandr Turchin said.

He emphasized that some measures from the current roadmap remain to be implemented this year, so efforts must be intensified. «Certainly, we must also approach the development of the main directions for 2027-2029 very thoroughly, incorporating real measures and projects. The Standing Committee is like the heart of our integration platform. Much depends on its work, including the implementation and elaboration of these very important documents for both our countries,» the prime minister stressed.
